Ezechiel is gradually recovering in Bangui

Ezechiel, an 8-year old boy who was shot in the throat during an evening attack last week, is gradually recovering. Today he was sitting up in a wheelchair, something that seemed a far-off vision last Thursday, when he arrived at the hospital. Hang in there, Ezechiel!

EzechielThe crisis seems to have passed but tensions are still running high in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, due to the recent attack and skirmishes in the city.

The roads are clear today, no barricades but there are only a few cars around and no taxis.

Even in the worst days nearly all the staff managed to reach our Pediatric Center, coming in on foot from even the most distant neighborhoods. On the other hand, the number of patients dropped, as is always the case when there’s fighting.

No more injured people have arrived at the Complexe Pédiatrique, but the ward is still full of patients who have already been operated on.
