A serious infection sends Yousefina to our Pediatric Center

Yousefina was born in South Sudan, but moved into the Mayo refugee camp in Khartoum with her grandmother. Yousefina has spina bifida and her parents sent her to the public hospital in Sudan for treatment.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAJust when she was about to go back to her parents following the operation, Yousefina injured her leg on a piece of glass while walking barefoot. The infection worsened, escalating to osteomyelitis.

Due to the severity of her condition, Yousefina was sent to our Pediatric Center in Mayo. We have kept her injury and general state of health under control, medicating the wound and applying fresh bandages.

Many civilian patients cannot afford the medical treatment that they need. By providing free-of-charge care, EMERGENCY saves the lives and limbs of children like Yousefina every day. Donate now to help us make a difference!
