Health in the Future of Afghanistan

In mid-August, EMERGENCY USA executive director Eric Talbert sat down with Dr. Nafisa Abdullah for the third in a three-part series of live web conversations. The discussion covered issues of healthcare in Afghanistan, as well as some of Nafisa’s personal experiences that led to her involvement with EMERGENCY.

As a physician, humanitarian and human rights advocate who has worked to support women and children injured by war in her native country of Afghanistan, Nafisa was able to provide unique insight into the detrimental effects of war;

“War is not the cure. War does not bring peace. War does not help people. We must do something to stop all these wars. We must do something. This is a disease of the 21st century. And a horrible disease.”
