From Around the Globe: Program Updates from Sudan and Italy

E-20_InternationalsEMERGENCY USA Board President Anna Gilmore recently attended the EMERGENCY 2014 International Conference in Milan. Here is her report back about where we are and where we are going in Sudan and Italy:

Sudan:

The presentation on the Sudan program included showing the May 2014 60 Minutes segment to attendees, complete with Italian subtitles.

The presentation was lovely in that it included two clinicians, a doctor and nurse, who were Sudanese and who shared their perspective and the gratefulness for the program.

Italy:

The mobile clinics and “bricks and mortar” medical facilities continue offering services to migrants and to anyone who needs access to care. The most recent updates: In 2013, services were expanded to include a location in Siracuse, Sicily for migrants coming to shore and to provide care for prostitutes working in Caserta province of Southern Italy.
