“Shokoria is going to be discharged today: finally, she will come back to her home! She has recovered well; she smiles and we all hope the future will bring her some serenity,” Giacomo, our logistician in Lashkar-gah, updates us about the little girl we admitted a couple weeks ago in our Lashkar-gah Surgical Center. She had received an injury to her head by shrapnel.
The situation in Afghanistan does not show any signs of improvement: in February—traditionally one of the “quieter” months due to winter—we admitted more than 380 wounded people in our Surgical Centers for War Victims in Kabul and in Lashkar-gah.
